Trudi’s Kids

Trudi’s Kids was created in honor of Gertrude “Trudi” Scott, a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Jordan Valley who lost her life in a tragic automobile accident in March 2010. Trudi touched the lives of so many families in a career that spanned nearly 40 years.

Brooks Milller, President of Jodan Valley Community Health Center said:

Trudi dedicated her life to helping children
Trudi dedicated her life to helping children from underprivileged homes receive quality health care and the love and attention they need to succeed in life. We will never forget her and her contributions to the community and to Jordan Valley will live on through this special program named in her honor.

The Trudi’s Kids mobile unit provides immunizations, asthma management services, sports physicals and sick care services to families in high-poverty districts. The Trudi’s Kids mobile unit works with the Springfield Public School system to coordinate services to Springfield school children.

In 2012, Trudi’s Kids began an expansion to offer school-based medical services in rural areas outside the Springfield area.  The clinics provide parents and children the convenience of immediate healthcare and treatment without missing work or school.  This is very important for children who do not have access to or are not established with a primary care physician.

Trudi Scott was a tireless advocate for children, particularly those who came from challenging economic or family situations and her influence and strong example are still felt throughout the state of Missouri.
